How do I apply for a home
You need to be accepted onto our waiting list to be considered
for housing. If you are already on the list, all you need to
do is search and bid.
- If you cannot remember your user name or password you
can contact us by email : homefinder@sshropsha.co.uk,
telephone: 01588 676200 or by using the Contact button on
the menu
- Enter your password. To start with this will be set as
your date of birth, but to make it more secure you will
be asked to change it to something which only you will know.
- You will then be able to bid – ie, tell us which
properties you would like to be considered for.
If you are not currently on our waiting list you will need
to complete an application form so that we can assess your
housing situation. Click here
to get a form.
How often will new properties be advertised?
We will update the details on this website every two weeks,
and you will have a week to let us know which properties you
are interested in.
How will you decide who gets the property?
If we have more than one bid for a property from applicants
in the same band we look at the applications in date of registration
order – based on the date each person was first accepted
onto our waiting list.
We then check that this person or family is suitable for
the property (for example, we would not normally offer a 3
bedroom house to a single person). If they are, we make arrangements
straight away for them to view the property. If they are happy
with it, then the property is theirs! If they don’t
wish to accept, or they are not suitable, we will go to the
second person on the list, and so on until the property is
accepted.
In certain, very limited circumstances, some applicants are
given exceptional priority because of the seriousness of their
situation (for example they are in danger in their current
home). If someone in this position applies for one of the
properties they will be considered before anyone else. If
two people with exceptional priority apply, we will offer
to the one who has been on the list longest.
How will I know whether I have been
successful?
If you are at the top of the shortlist you will hear from
us within 5 working days of the advert closing.
You can also click here
to see a newsletter giving the latest information about vacancies
and who they were offered to. Although we won’t give
out applicants’ names, we show how many people have
shown an interest in each property and how long the successful
applicant was on our list. In this way you can see which types
of properties are in high demand and also those which you
might have a greater chance of being offered.
